Lesson 9

Particle Theory of Matter Lab.

Today you were to look at the different experiments that were carried out in class and answer some questions relating to particle theory of matter regarding various states of matter.

For example:

In the balloon experiment you saw the balloon inflate when you put the balloon and flask in hot water. Why?

We discussed the way the particles move away from eachother when they are heated and spread to fill the entire area of their container.

But what particles were in the flask to begin with? It was just air right?

Wrong... air is composed of many particle like oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide
